As long as she can remember, Seattle-based Jessica Domingo always liked to sing. “It started when I was in diapers,” she jokes, “I’d dance to my own beat and I could sing myself to sleep.” She doesn’t mind comparisons with her more famous American Idol namesake, but she personally favors stylistic associations with R&B, jazz and pop.
Currently a regular in the weekend gig circuit of Seattle, 16 year-old Jessica counts among her musical influences the seductive and powerful voices of Lauryn Hill, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. And the fact that she could play the guitar and keyboards means her growth as a musical artist will not be limited to the development of her prime instrument – her beautiful voice.
After her family and close friends, the person Jessica credits as the most responsible for steering her in the right musical direction is her manager and record producer Don Quijano of Browngroove Entertainment. Don Quijano co-wrote and produced Jessica’s first Album, “Take A Chance.” The album features the works of talented musicians, song writers, and including Jessica’s own composition. Although born in the USA, Jessica knows that music is in the blood of Filipinos, wherever they are, and to get at the very heart of her love for music, she’ll take her first album to her people with the carrier single, “I’ll Get There.”
In the meantime, fans of the up and coming singer can catch her performances at Dionisio’s Grill, The Rum Bar, Starbucks, Espresso Mobil, Seattle Drum School, all in downtown Seattle on Fridays and Saturdays.
